The “National Sustainability Conference on Sustainability in Fashion was held at Indian Knit Fair, Tiruppur from 19 – 20 August 2022. Alongside the Conference, CII Tiruppur in association with IKF also organized a platform for domestic brands across India to showcase their latest collection to potential buyers.
While the global clothing and textile industry face immense challenges due to its enormous environmental pollution and consumers, too, are also becoming more aware of the environmental issues of the industry, the event was a good opportunity for Fairtrade NAPP to create awareness for Fairtrade and its sustainable model for cotton and textile production and consumption.
Tirupur region being driven by textiles and allied sectors, the platform also offered enhanced business opportunities for all players in the fashion retail chain with an environment of networking, knowledge, and inspiration. Therefore, Fairtrade NAPP exhibited with a booth to establish contact with the textile supply chain and to build its certification capacities
54 booths were contacted by the team of Program Consultants from India to promote Fairtrade and attend to their queries. The visibility and awareness of Fairtrade were built among the textile companies.
