The tea plantation workers are engaged in the fields the whole day which leaves them little or no time for any leisure and entertainment. Due to their labor-intensive work, they are found to be physically fit, but they lack the required means of relaxation and fun to build on their mental strength. Therefore, in order to boost their morale, strengthen the co-existing relationship between the workers, staff, and management, and facilitate a positive working culture, the FPC team of Dickoya Estate had organized a Workers Annual Sports Meet for the workers and management.
The event was held at DMCC Ground, established during the colonial British period, and was professionally organized. It was supported by active participation from men, women, and youth from the estate and was successful in exposing their hidden talents and getting them involved in various activities organized on their behalf by the estate. Some of the activities included a short and long-distance race, tug-of-war, musical chair, coconut scraping, lime, and spoon race followed by cultural and traditional events to keep them entertained.
At the end of the event, an award ceremony was organized to honor all the participants and winners with awards and certificates.
The high light of the event was the presence of Madhavan Rajkumaby- Mr.World and Bodybuilder (Championship- Nov 2019-Dubai), who delivered a motivational speech to the workers. Being born and brought up in the region and belonging to the Tea plantation, his hard work was of great inspiration to the workers.
